ENJOY A DIFFERENT ADVENTURE WITH YOUR FAMILY IN GALAPAGOS
Teaching program in the Galapagos Islands
Galapagos is one of the most amazing spots in the planet where people and wildlife live together, but many people do not know the social problems that they go through. A high percentage of the local population does not know how to speak English although most of the families have some activity related to the tourism issue.
By helping the local schools that we assist we make sure that the English teachers have some more efficient help from someone whose mother tongue is English and at the same time the students have the chance to experience a different learning methodology and also to listen the right pronunciation.
Our Teaching program takes place in 2 of the 4 populated Islands. You have the opportunity to visit San Cristobal and Isabela Islands. Both of them are amazing places to volunteer due the great opportunity to do tourism during your free time.
Description of the Work
Volunteers will be the English teacher’s assistant and could also give English classes to the younger children in the pre-school for about 30 minutes each day.
Volunteers are welcome to help the Spanish teachers in the second grade where the children learn how to read and write. Volunteers can also help any teacher with any other subject they are interested in.
Keep in Mind
Galapagos is a group of Islands where food and basic resources are limited or hard to get, so the life style is harder and therefore some stuff are also more expensive than the costs in the continent.
Time: The minimum required time to work is one week.
Schedule: Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 12:30
WHAT VOLUNTEERS SAY
"It was my second time in Ecuador but it was the best one because I had finally the time to volunteer and teach as I wanted to a different culture. It was a great time and I will be back soon!!"
