Gallery and Information About Cuenca
Not many tourists venture farther than the south of Ecuador, but those who do will delight in exploring the Province of Azuay, known for its hospitality, unique cuisine, and charming towns nestled between the gentle folds of the Andes.
In Cuenca, Ecuador's third largest city, you can stroll the well-preserved colonial streets, trek through sloping countrysides and visit the nearby Incan ruins of Ingapirca, the northmost best preserved pre-colonial ruins of the Incan Empire.
Cuenca has been declared by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site. In the colonial city, markets and craft shops display embroidered articles of clothing, tapestries, ceramics, jewelry and delicately fashioned Panama hats.
