Environment Volunteering (4 programs)

Rio Muchacho Botanic Garden and Forest

About the institution

It is a forest that offers volunteers to connect with the natural world.  This is an excellent place for meditation and finding spiritual peace by living a simpler life and taking care of the surrounding forests.

Our world is experiencing a deep and complex social, spiritual and environmental crisis.    There are not miracle solutions that can stop the environment problems.  The real change must come from the transformation of each individual.  We, the people should change our life style by living a simpler life, far from materialism, excessive consume, trivialities, and sensationalism.  The forest is open to volunteers and visitors in general with the main goal of showing the hard work that needs to be done day after day to transform empty hills in a unique place of environmental care and realize that each specie here are master pieces of evolution.

Description of the work
This forest welcomes volunteers looking to obtain practical experience in biology, botanic, ecology, agro forestry, tourism, etc.  IN the morning the activities include:  dig holes for planting trees, compost maintenance, and maintenance of the nursery.  Clean the soil with a machete (local tool), fruits collection, pruning trees, and irrigate the plants.

In the afternoons the activities are lighter:  paint the botanic gardens signs, small constructions and it is also possible to translate texts in other languages.

Keep in mind:
The work is physically demanding.  You will be working outdoors.  You need to be willing to work in the country side and open to do activities that are not used to.
