Alandaluz and Cantalapiedra Alandaluz and Cantalapiedra


About the institution
Alandaluz is an Ecological Hosteria created in 1988, and Cantalapiedra is a Wild Life Sanctuary created in 1992. Alandaluz has a beautiful beach and both places are surrounded by gardens, organic plantations and bamboo plants; which create an environment of harmony, respect to nature, and a sense of community and responsibility towards the future of the planet and the well-being of next generations.

The places are located in Puerto-López, in the province of Manabi at the Coastal region of Ecuador.


Description of the work
Activities for volunteers are distributed between Alandaluz and Cantalapiedra. Your work will vary depending on the needs and the length of your stay, but in general you can help in many activities such as maintenance of paths and botanic gardens, pedagogic teaching at the ecological club composed by kids of the community, environment workshops and English teaching for the community, carpentry with wood and bamboo, fruit harvesting, butterfly vivarium maintenance. In addition, you will learn about the local flora and fauna, especially about the great variety of birds; processes to treat coffee grains and preparation of granola, bread and desserts. You also have the opportunity to practice some sports, and do some trekking and hiking around the place.


Time: 1 month minimum
Schedule is 8 hours per day, can be flexible as long as goals are fulfilled. You will have 1 and a half days free.

If you are interested in planning and developing projects, the required minimum time is 3 months.


What you will get from the workplace:

  • A welcome meeting and complete information about the place, activities, rules, etc.
  • Site inspection, staff presentation and meeting local community on your fist day
  • Weekly meetings to evaluate work
  • Preparation for all areas of work
  • A coordinator who will be always available for any help you might need
  • A certificate

Board and Lodging: Yes.
Shared accommodation both at Alandaluz and Cantalapiedra.

Costs: $10 per day.
Includes accommodation and 3 daily meals
